IN TOUCH WITH ARCTIC.
AUCKLAND RADIO SUCCESS. (PEBBS ASSOCIATION TILSGEAJIJ AUCKLAND, April 19. The Aucklander who has been in wireless communication with the Wilkins Arctic Expedition in Alaska, is C. N. Edwards, of Port Chevalier. He picked up the call of Lieut. Messer, of U.S.A. Signal Corps, at 9.15 on Monday night, with a wave-length of 35 metres, the receiver being of the ordinary short-wave two-valve type. Though the atmospherics were bad, Messer and Edwards conversed iu Morse for an hour without a single repetition being necessary. Edwards's aerial is only 26 feet high. On Wednesday evening Messer and Edwards bad a clear conversation in Morse for two and a half hours.
Some months ago Edwards obtained communication with the Ross Sea whaling expedition in Tne Antarctic.
