The Prime Minister,, General Chia, has resigned, declaring himself guilty of negligence in connexion with the Ten-ao coup de'etat. All the gates of the city are at prosent closed except the Yungtinpneii Gate, where officials, flanked by guards of honour, await the arrival of Marshal Chang Tso-lin, the Manchurian "War Lord."
PORTUGUESE FIRED ON.

HONG-KONG, April 18.
It is reported from Macao that strike pickets, stationed at the barrier between Portuguese and Chinese territory, fired on and pounded some Portuguese soldiers, who returned the fire. The pickets retired. The Governor has protested to the Canton Government.
