OLD MAN DIES.

BODY* PARTLY BURNED IN GORSE FIRE. John Vine Chatterton, aged 79 years, died at Templeton yesterday. The old man left his son's residence in Sandy Knoll road about 9 o'clock in the morning to burn gorse a short distance down the road, and did not return for lunch. About 1 P-™- * grandson was sent to find him, and he discovered his grandfather's body lying under the hedge. The body was considerably burned. Dr Whetter was summoned, and he examined the body. He considered that Chatterton had&ed before the flames reached him. The old man had suffered from heart trouble and had been in ill-health for some considerable time, Dr. Whetter having attended him for two years.
