NORTH BEACH AND WAIMAIRI BURGESSES' ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the North Beach and Waimairi Burgesses' Association was held in the Memorial Hall, when Mr E. A. M. Leaver presided over a fair attendance. Correspondence was received from the .New Brighton Borough Council stating that the widening of the Esplanade was being done as spoil caaie to hand, and that the Council wero, moving in the matter of concrete wall protection on the sea front. In connexion with a letter from the Waininuri County Council, stating that tne work of metalling the extension ot Katecourse road woukt be proceeded, with, several members present, residents of the area affected, spoke very bitterly of the 'action of the Council. Tuoy stated that repeated promise to do the work had been made and a further statement that the surveyor was actually on the job had. also been made, but no material evidence v?as forthcoming. It was decided'to write to the W&imairi County Council, and the member of the Council representing the district, asking that the promises be fulfilled. It was decided to request the .New Brighton Borough Council to extend the conveniences at Noith Beach and to take steps to acquire access from Jubilee avenue to the Osborne terrace reserve. It was decided to proceed with the woik of endeavouring to obtain a slot telephone at the corner of Racecourse road and Rookwood avenue. This matter was left in the hands of Mr F. J. Lawrence Scott. In <regard to complaints regarding Kerr's road it *ras decided to writs asking the Heathcote County Council to co-operate with the City Council and have tbia highway repaired. At the same time it was decided ot express the Association's thanks for the granting of the concessions asked for in connexion with the buß service. The question of nominations for the local School Committee was deferred till the April meeting. A request is to go forward to the Educatin Board asking that body to take immediate step 3 to establish a manual training centre in Central Brighton to serve the Aranui, Main Brighton, North Beach, Butwood, and South Brighton Schools. The balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £1 15s, was adopted, and a vote of thanks was passed to Mr Perrin for his work as treasurer and for printing copies of the annual report at his own expense. The annual report was adopted. The election of officers for the 'ensuing year resulted as follows:—President, Mr E. A. M. Leaver; vice-presidents, Messrs T. H. ' Strahan, Perrin, A. C. Rowlands, D.
