MINISTER WELCOMED.

REV. J. ROBERTSON, FROM MELBOURNE. Members and adherents of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church assembled in the church schoolroom last night) to welcome the new minister of the church, the Rev. J. Robertson, 8.A., who succeeds the Rev. J. J. North. Mr Robertson comes frod! Canterbury, Melbourne, where he had charge of a parish. Over a vevy large attendance Mr S. R. Ingoid .presided. Messages of congratulation to the new minister were contained in a number of letters received by the secretary. Some read were from the Revs. J. J; North, S, Lawry, and F. £. Harry, Mr Justice Adams, the Victorian Baptist Ministers' Fraternal Union, and from Mr Robertson's old church. Mr S. R. lngold said he had the honour of extending a warm a'nd hearty welcome to both Mr and Mrs Robertson on behalf of the church people. "It must put very great heart and strength, into Mr Robertson and his wife to see such a splendid and enthusiastic gathering," said the Mayor, who welcomed Mr and Mrs Robertson to Christchurch. Other short speeches of welcome were made by the Rer. Charles DtiHaston, Mr Doery la. member of Mr Robertson, s church in Melbourne), the Rev. N.. L. D Webster, and Mrs A. S. Adanls who addressed her welcome especially + to Mrs Robertson in the name of the women of the church. , Mr Robertson said it gave mm great pleasure to be in the midst of his new congregation.
