It is stated in political circles that the Premier and Attorney-General waited on the Governor and requested him to appoint a number of women to the Legislative Council, and that the Governor'refused to do so. Following the refusal of the Governor" to make additional appointments to the Legislative Council, Mr Lang has commissioned Mr McTiernan, while in London, to make representations to the Dominions Office for the recall of the Governor, and possibly the" appointment of a Governor who will be more amenable to Mr Lang's demands.
