A competition, which caused much amusement, I was won by Miss Maisie Burt. The | guest of honour was the recipient of many useful gifts. On Thursday night a surprise party, organised by Miss E. Aldous, visited the home of Mr and Mrs Iggo (Page's road, Aranui) and an enjoyable time was spent in games, competitions, and dancing. The winners of the competitions were Misse3 "W. Henderson and A. Breeze, G. Rose, G. Iggo, F. Ozanne, J, Parsons, E. Ozanne, F. Aker, P. Aldous, C. Aker, and others. A "harvest home" gathering after the style of many that are- held in the Old Country, and a birthday party combined, were held on Saturday afternoon at the residence of Sir and Mrs S. Flood, Voss's road, Ladbrooks. The occasion was the birthday of Master Bruce Flood. Upwards of 150 guests enjoyed the outing on the farm. Luncheon, afternoon tea, and tea were served on tables arranged on the long verandahs. Games and races for young j and old were Indulged in, and prizes I Were given to all who competed. A special prize given for the best head of long .hair was won by Miss Gertrude | Riley. The following contributed to the musical programme:—Piper Mackintosh, Mrs G. DeyeD, Mrs Berry, Mr J. Gillespie, Mr Yates, Mr Derize, Mrs Gillespie, Miss Smithers, and Mrs j Berry. Little Venus Flood delighted j everybody witb a dance, Misses B. Peddie, R. Petersen, D. O'Connor, Jean Stanton, M. Johnston, and L. Johnston danced Highland dances and Irish reels in costume, and Mr R. Berry danced a sailor's hornpipe. On behalf of those present Mr Yates presented Master Bruce v Flood with a silver pencil. Cheers for the bost and hostess and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a pleasant function to a conclusion. >
