When practising on the organ at Leek Church recently, Mr Henry E. P. Welch, of Leek Hall, near Lancaster, a wellknown North Lancashire landowner, received severe injuries, from which he died. Tho organ is driven by an electric engine, and Mr Welch's clothes presumably became entangled in the mechanism when he was starting it. He was found unconscious beside the engine. Mr Welch, who was 65, was honorary organist of the church.
