The font at Christ Church, Hawthorn, Melbourne, is an interesting link with the Church in Great Britain, and with the early history of Victoria, for when provision was being made for the extei> sion of St. Katherine's Docks, London, a church which had been built for sailors and known as St. Katherine's, had to be demolished. Governor 1&, Trobe secured the font and presented it tp the church at Hawthorn in 1854.
