Thinking that one of their comrades had been maltreated by warders, 100 prisoners mutinied at Parramatta gaol, and attacked the warders, but when evidence was forthcoming that the man was not knocked about the outbreak subsided. There waß a dangerous outlook for a time, but the firm attitude of the warders quelled the disturbance.
