' The Of ago .ladies' golf championship was concluded on Saturday in .perfect weather, with not a breath ol wind, and Mr® Dodgßhun (New Zealand champion) and Mrs Cook (Otago Club champion) enjoyed the best conditions for playing. The final eighteen holes were played in the morning, ■ and after the. first nine holes Mrs Cook held the advantage- of one up. She lost the tenth and eleventh, but stuck to her opponent well. The gaine finished on the sixteenth green, Mrs Dodgshun winning 3up and 2. ' ... • The driving competition goes to Miss 0. Kay (St. Clair) with 173 yards, Mrs 0. Jones (Inverca'rgill), 166 ywds, being second. The Balmacewan Vase was won by \Mi* Henderson (Otago), 'who beat Miss H. Scott (Palmisrston North) 4 up and 2. The mixed fouraolSfa was won by Mrs Cook and Dr. K. Ross, all square. , AVONDALE CLUB. # - The opening of the season of the Avondale Golf Club was marked _by brilliant weather on Saturday, and the links were in excellent order. There was a good attendance of club mombers and other enthusiasts, among those present being Mr'F. h. Hutchinson, president; Mr H. B. T. Spanjer, captain; Mr J. M. Preston, secretary; and Messrs M. Armstrong, H. Lightband. McClymont, Millar, Foley, -Williams, Stokes, and Grant, the Misses Hopkins, H. M. Sapsford, K. Gib Son, K. Thornton, A.
