UPPER HUTT ELECTION. (TREES ASSOCIATION TILSOSiII.) WELLINGTON, February 25. The first election of the Mayor and Council for the new borough of Upper Hutt took place yesterday. Thcro were two candidates for the mavoraltv, Mr A. J.. McCurdy. for many year's associated with the progress of the town, beatmg Mr W H. iBirber the former member otUrlia business man, by ,o0 votes to 380. There were twenty can&daUa, for ei<dit seats on the council, the followinc bein» elected:—Mesrrs O. L. A--sa«n, W. Grew. H hjf%' James Blcwmau, J. W. Beechey, &- Howell, J- K. Johnston, and T. R. Jameson.
