THEFT OF TOBACCO.
♦ . WATERSIDEKS SENTENCED. (PRZSS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAiI.) WELLINGTON, February 25. Walter Dan go and John Esses Desvorcaox, watersiders. were sentenced to three months' imprisonment in tho Magistrate's Court to-day on a i-argo of theft of 201b of tobacco, part of the cargo of the steamer Manuka. Tho tobacco was found by a detective in the coat pockets of accused, but the accused said that they intended to hand tho tobacco to tho watchman. "I'm afraid their storv won't do," said Mr Page. S.M. "It seems clear to me that this cargo was pillaged by these men, or some other men in concert with them.."
