SWIMMING.
$ WALTHAM LADIES' CLUB. A number of races was decided at the Waltham Baths on Saturday. The results are as follows: 25 Yards—Girls 12 and under 15 (Mrs Swarbrick's pftze)—Miss J. Valiant 1, Miss D. Swarbrick 2. Miss I". Hill 3. Width Race (Mrs Savage's prize)— Miss M. Gardner 1, Miss A. Hern 2, Miss R. Cashmere 3, Miss N. Wallis 4. 25 'Yards Race, under 15 —Miss R. Rowe 1, Miss F. Hill 2, Miss I. Ankins 3. Junior Dive—Misß F. Hill 1. Miss D. Swarbrick 2, Miss M. Ankins 3. CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. The Canterbury Provincial Swimming Championships will be decided at a carnival extending over four nights at the East Clyristchurch Baths. Satisfactory entries have been received for all events, and the meeting will open to-night, when the 50yds and B&oyds men's championship, 50yds and 440 yds ladies. 220 yds intermediate boys, 50yds intermediate girls, 75yds intermediate girls' breast-stroke, 50yds junior boys, 75yds junior boys' breast-stroke, 25yds junior girls, 50yds junior girls' breast-stroke, and boys' intermediate diving championships will be decided. Interclub handicap races for both ladies and men will complete an excellent programme. The seating accommodation at the baths has been increased, whilst the lighting arrangements are all that could be desired. Included in the list of competitors aro all those swimmers who contested the Dominion championships at Napier, whilst others who could not make the trip will also be racing. Carnivals begin at 7.30 each each evening.
