SURFACEMEN KILLED.
VERDICT OF ACCIDENTAL DEATH. (press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, January 15. The inquest was concluded into the deaths of two railway surfacemen, John Harland and Richard Dilworth, who were killed through being knocked down by a shunting train at Newmarket on December 23rd. The Coroner found that deceased were accidentally killed through being run over by a shunting train. "I commend to the attention of the Railway Department," he added, "the necessity of in some way giving notice to enginedrivers that men are working as surfacemen on such a shunt."
