RUN OVER BY CAR.

LITTLE GIRL KILLED. ANOTHER INJURED. (fBESS ASSOCIATION TBIjEGB&X.) NEW PLYMOUTH:, December 21. A girl aged six was killed, and another girl aged three lies in the hospital in a critical condition as a result of being knocked over by a motorcar in New Plymouth this afternoon. The children were: Gladys May O'Dea, aged 6 years, and 9 mouths, daughter of Mr E. O'Dea, railway employee, 51 Hine street, killed. Doreen Walsh, aged 3 years and 6 months, daughter of Edward Walsh, labourer, Hine street, serious injuries to head, condition critical. The accident occurred in St. Aubyn street, close to Morley street intersection, shortly after 4.30 p.m. Thomas Henry Lovegroye, of Wanganui, was driving a motor-car towards the breakwater, and is stated to have been travelling on his correct side of the road and at a low speed, a tramcar being near. The children, apparently were on the footpath and then suddenly ran in front of the car. Lovegfove immediately pulled his car up, but the distance was too Bhort to enable him to avoid the children. Both were struck on the head. The" little girl O'Dea, when picked up was lifeless, and death is considered to have been instantaneous. Medical assistance was immediately obtained, and Doreen Walsh was sent to th© hosoital, -where just before midnight she was reported to be in a critical state.
