STRAND THEATRE.
. During the week commencing to-day, Larry Semon appears at tho Strand Theatre in "The Wizard of Oz." This famous story has been familiar to the world for the past twenty years. Adults have been fascinated and charmed with, its •whimsical humour, which is worthy of the pen of Barrie; children have been delighted with it, reading it again and again. Montgomery and Stone scored success that gained them fame and fortune in the musical comedy version, but tlie book and the play combined could not visualise as effectively the fastastic ideas of the author which will be shown on the screen. _ . ■ The screen's greatest eccentric comedian, Larry Semoh. portrays the role of the "Scarecrow," originated by Fred Stone, and it is said that Mr Semon's characterisation is one of the most remarkable portrayals ever given in motion pictures. In the second attraction, Jack Hoxie appears in a rattling good Western picture, "Riding Thunder."
