ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
The final concert of the 1925 season of the Christchuroh Orchestral Society will be given in the Choral iift 11 on "Wednesday next. The Society's full' orchestra of seventy performers will be under the baton of the Society's conductor, Mr Angus Gunter, and a magnificent programme has been arranged. The orchestra under their leader, Mr T. B. Riordan, will on the above occasion be assisted by the following artists: Mts R. Twyneham (violin), Mis Harold Beck (violin), and Mr Harold Beck ('cello), and their numb era will include:—Overture, "Egmont" (Beethoven); suite, "Scenes Pittoresques" (Massenet); selection from "Lohengrin" (Wagner), and the symphony will be the famous Symphony No. 8 in B Minor (Unfinished) (Schubert). The soloist at the concert will be Miss Vera Mitchell (violoncellist), who has fully established her reputation as a soloist, who has played'in some of the most exclusive halls in London, the Queen's Hall and Wigmore Hall, and has given very successful recitals in various parts of England, and oritics says of her that Miss Mitchell ha 3 taken a definite place amongst those who can truthfully be said to be masters of the 'cello. Miss Vera Mitchell's numbers will include: Concerto in Minor Op. 33 (Saint-Saens), Grave ed Expressivo from Concerto in D (Tartini) and Gavotte No. 2 in D (Popper) for violoncello and orchestra. The box plan of reserved seats opens this {Monday) morning at Tho Bristol, whero subscribers and intending patrons are advised to reserve early.
