Sales—Kawarau 7s 4d (two), 7s 3d. Sale reported : —New Zealand Refrigerating (cont.) 8s Id. MOUNT LYELL MINING CO. The account of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company for the year ended September 30th, show a net profit of £174,605, after providing £81,314 for depreciation, and. £11,274 for prospecting, as compared with a net profit of £151,102 for the preceding year, when £29,415 was writtyi off as depreciation. With £441,291 brought forward £615,896 was available out of which two dividends were paid, absorbing £128,920, leaving £486,976 to be carried forward. Income received as interest and dividends amounted to £37,587, as against £25,957 a year ago. The surplus liquid assets at £950,861, appear to be £145,347 higher than a year ago, but actually the increase is only £16,347, a.3 last year £130,000 was deducted for "capital expenditure authorised." These surplus liquid assets do not include £168,905 for shareholdings in the other companies. The directors consider it essential to maintain liquid assets on a strong basis in view of further capital expenditure, especially in connexion with extensions to the chemical works. Expenditure on construction necessary to enable improvement and economies to be effected absorbed £27,062 during the year. Since the close of the financial year a dividend o'f Is, together with a bonus of 3d, absorbing £80,575, has been declared. WORLD'S SUGAR MARKET. The price of sugar on the world's markets has steadily declined during the past fewmonths, and has now reached an unusually low figure, the latest Cuban price being 8s 7Jd per cwt. The trend of the world's markets might be gauged from the following Cuban prices: February, 1924, 28s 6d per cwf April, 1924, 25s 3d; November, 1924, 17s'6d; February, 1925, 13s; and November, 1925, 8s 7Jd. GOLDSBROUGH, MORT. The Christchurch Stock Exchange have received the following cablegram from Goldsbrough, MoTt and Co., Ltd.:— "At ths general meeting on December 16th, the directors will recommend an interim dividend at the rate of 10 per cent, per annum for the six months ended September 30th on one and a half million shares, part capital of company, excluding two hundred and fifty thousand new shares." BUILDING LOAN. An announcement appears in th.l 3 issue concerning a specia' buildings loan debenture issued by the Auckland Hospital Board. The largo increase in the population of Auckland has rendered increased hospital accommodation essential and the additional money is required to pay for new buildings. Of tho issue of £300,000, over £220,000 has already been taken up. POULTRY PRODUCERS, LTD. Tho Canterbury Co-op. Poultry Producers, Ltd., report that tho market was fairly well supplied' with poultry last week, but the demand was good and prices remained firm at late rate 3. Following were prices per p a i r; — Table chickens 3= to 15s 6d, hens 6s to 11<>, ducklings 9s to 16s 6d, ducks 8s 6d to lis, geese 8s to I'a, and turkeys 18a to 45e. A."
