DANCE RECITAL.

MISS BESSIE MACDONALD'S PUPILS. The weather was not very kind to Miss Bessie Macdonald and her pupils last night, when they gave a dance recital in the Choral Hall. But the audience was a large one, and the programme varied and colourful Miss Macdonaid struck a new note in her stage decorative scheme, having a backcloth of black and sold stripes, interspersed with wide black bands. Pot plants also lent a striking effect to the whole scheme. The dancing was excellent throughout, from the tiniest tot—and there -were Rome very tiny tots—to the oldest. The various items covered a wide range of the art. and Miss Macdonald and her pupils are- to be very heartily congratulated on a fine performance. An orchestra, under the conductorship of Mrs W. O. S. Adam, accompanied the dance programme, and an added effect was given to the artistic dressing by well-blended spot and flood lights. At the interval Mr H. Bannehr, secretary of St. Saviour's Orphanages, for which institutions the recital was given, thanked Miss Mardonald and pupils for their high-class performance, and stated that it was never difficult to secure the services of any artist to aid the funds of the orphanages, the object, being such a worthy one. .
