The New Award. The terms of the new award are:— 1 (a) The ordinary hours for grocers assistants shall be forty-eight pa-week, to be worked between 8 a.m. and 530p.rn.0n four days of the week, between 8 a.m. and 12 30 p.m. on the day observed as the -weekly half-holiday, and between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. on one day of the week. The forty-eight hours shall be exclusive of meal intervals, for which not less than one hour shall be allowed: provided that drivers may be employed when necessary in the outside delivery of goods up till 1 p.m. on the day of the weekly half-holiday, subject to the forty-eight-hour limit. (b) Shops which do not observe a late night shall be allowed to remain open and employ assistants until 1 pjn. on the day of tho weekly half-holiday. .... .. In regard to the closing of all shops, the Court ordered that the following provision shall apply in respect of all grocers shops in the area lying within the circumference of a circle described with the Chief Post Office iu the City of Christchurch as the centre, and with a radius of ten miles, that is to say .*—• (1) Subject to the provision of clause 1 (b) hereof, that in those portions of the said nrpa in which Saturday is the statutory half-holi-day all grocers' shops shall be closed from 5.30 p.m. on four days of the week, from 0 p.m. on one dny-of the week, and from 12.30 p.m. on Saturday. That iu those portions of the said area in which Saturday is not tho statutory half-holi-day, all grocers' shops shall be closed from 5.30 p.m. on four days of the week, from 12.30 p.m. on the statutory half-holiday, and from 9 p.m. on Saturday: Provided that the occupier of any grocer's shop who gives notice as provided in section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, may observe Saturday in lieu of the statutory closing day, and shall close his shop as provided in 'the last preceding paragraph. All shops mentioned in the preceding subclause (3) shall be closed from immediately after midnight on the previous day, and s'hall remain closed on the days set out in clause 5 (a) as holidays or,on days observed in lieu thereof.
