DUX MEDAL.
TO THE EDITOR OP "THE mSSS." Sir,—Could you tell me through your valuable paper to', which pupil, in a public ' school of mixed chTlden, the Dux prize should be awarded. Some doubt exists amongst parents and children as to wnich of' the following is entitled to the medal: (a) The pupil obtaining tho highest number of marks at the Standard VI. Proficiency Examination by the inspectors. <b) The pupil gaining the top place during the year on marks allotted by the teacher. —Yours, etc., INTERESTED. November 26th, 1925. [We are informed that the Education Board leaves each school free to fix its own policy. In the event of several pupils gaining equal marks for work during the year, however, it is sometimes decided by headmasters to award the prize to the child gaining the highest marks in the Proficiency Examination.—Ed.
