WIDOWS' PENSION SCHEME.

The Assembly read the first time the Widows' Pensions Bill, which provides that a widow, with one or more dependent children, shall receive £1 weekly, and iOB weekly for each child under the age of 14 years. The widows' pension scheme is e«timated to cost £500,000 per annum.
