AWFUL CRIME.
FATHER CUTS SON'S THROAT. ELTHAM SENSATION. (PUSS ASSOCUTJOS TTLXOSAM.) ELTHAM, November 36. "When "William Gray, aged 14, was cleaning his boots in the washhonse at about 0.45 this morning, his father, Archibald Gray, aged 47, Health Inspector for the Eltham district, entered, and picking up a hammer, hit him on the head and then cut his throat with a raxor. v The boy's screams attracted the neighbours, who took the razor from Gray. In a statement. Gray said: "I have been nervy and not-sleepine lately, and intended to kill the family and then myself." His wife says that Gray was quito normal lately. Gray was under transfer to i)annevirke in January. He had been in Eltham for fourteen years, and was well-known. Gray was later charged with murder and remanded to New Plymoui.li till December 4 th. Bail was not asked for.
