STREETS RESEMBLE CANALS.

Tlio Athens correspondent of the '•'Daily Express" reports that numerous deaths were caused by floods due to sudden torrential rain which transformed the avenues of Athens into canals, making tho city resemble Venice. Turbulent floods of yellow water rushed down the streets, trees were uprooted, bridges washed away, and vehicles swept into tho gutters. A number of houses fell to pieces, the inmates being swept away by tho swift current aud drowned. Some girls wcro drowned in the middle of Athens, numbers of spectators being powerless to assist them. An encampment has been made on the outskirts of the city, where refugees are sheltering. Tho total damage- is estimated at £130,000.
