DAYLIGHT MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS. DUST NUISANCE. (srzciki. to "xns rasss.") • WELLINGTON. November LVS. So far tho daylight express between Wellington and Auckland, which is being given a trial during tho summer months, has not been largely patronised, and it is unlikely that it will bo a success. The idea was to let people see the scenery, especially in the reg : on of Ruapelm and Ngnuruhoe, but these volcanoes, which are the main features of t>.e route, are often hidden in the clouds Tho journey in da.ylip.ht is a ivory dusty .ahd tiring one, and the trre.it majority of tho travellers will prefer to make it by night. The cost of dealing with the dust nuisance, which is experienced mainly between Frankton and Taumarunui, is prohibitive, as it could bo done only by spraying the track with crude oil, as 13 done in America. One advantage of the train is that it enables South Island passengers to go straight to the train from tho ferry boat on arrival, an J to. la in Auckland tho same evening.
