CHRIST'S COLLEGE V. HIGH I SCHOOL. The annual c,ricket matches between Chdist's College and Christchurch Boys' High School were commenced yesterday at Haglev Park. In the first elevens' match Christ's College batted first and made SIS. High School had two wickets d:«wn {or 152 when stumps were drawn at 6.30 p.m. F. Jacobs notched a single off the last ball of the last over and brought up the first century cf the match. In the second elevens' game, 'High School, batting first, made 152, and College had two wioket3 down for G1 'when stumps were drawn. The best batting performance in the College innings in the first elevens' match was put up by I. M. Hamilton, who punished the bowling unmercifully and actually got 21 runs off one over. He reached 55 in G2 minutes, and after that hit many boundaries. In stepping out to hit Chambers, hn left his wicket open to an c-ff-brtak. S. S. The weather wan unpleasant, a cold wind, at times of almost ga'o violence 1 , making it difficult for bowlers and batsmen. The threatening rain held off, &.na later in the afternoon the sun came out. The wioket was an easy one, but it assisted the bowlors to the extent of providing plenty of- grin for the ball. The wicket improved during the day.
