DANCE RECITAL.

• ♦ MISS IRIS MONTGOMERY ANDt PUPILS. Congratulations are due to Miss-Iris Montgomery on the success of the dance recital given by herself and he; pupils. last night in the Caledonian Hall. The programme was one that tested the abilities of the performers, who were called upon to give dances which ranged from the classical to the very modern hula hula of Hawaii, but without exception they acquitted themselves creditably. The programme was divided into three . parts, an Oriental scena, a ballet divertissement, and a number ot lesser dances. > The scena "In a Persian Garden" (Lisa Lehmanu) was the piece de resistance. The stage was arranged tc represent an Kastcrn. garden, the effect being enhanced by the. me of pot plants, and the gorgeous colours of the clothes worn by the characters. The entrance of Bacchantes was followed by- the vocal quartette "Come, fill the Cup" (Miss Agnes Richardson and Leila Denby, and Messrs Prank Morrison and Bernard Itennell). Th 3 dsnce which was; given by Miss Montgomery during the singing by Mr Fawcett of the tenor solo "Oh Moon of My Delight" (which was splendidly sung), was full of the spirit of the theme und the music, and withal ■ extremely graceful. Miss Irene Stone was seen in a clever portrayal of the awakening of the mummy, in which she was given the assistance of an efficient ballet. The duet "A Book of Verse" (Miss Denby and Mr Mormon), the bass solo "Myself When Young" (Mr Rennell), and the contralto solo "The Vordly Hopes Men Set Theii* Hearts Upon" (Miss Richardson), were splendidly received, while the cymbai dance by Misses Irene Stone, Mavis Lawrence, and Gwen Bellamy was another popular number. In the "Harlequin" ballet, the name part was taken by Miss Montgomery, while Misses Essy Gibson, M. Lawrence, J. Gibson, and N. Brown were the flower-girls, Misses 1). Huie, J. Huie, K. Hoare, and A.
