Mr J. H. Black well. managing director of tho Kaiapoi Woollen Company, left for Auckland last night. Messrs C. F. Brown and C. W. White (Wellington) are at the Clarendon Hotel. Guests at Warner's Hotel include Messrs'W T . iL. Raymond (Timaru) and C. F. Cross (Oxford, England). Pastor C. If. Cole, of Wellington, has accepted a call to the St. Albans Baptist Church, and expects to commence his ministry early in the New Year. Mr AV. T. Chaflewood, who has been on a visit to England, -is returning to the Dominion by the steamship ltuapehu, which left on the 20th inst. Mr G. T. Robinson (New Brighton) returned by yesterday's ferry steamer after a seven months' trip to England and the Continent.

Motions of sympathy with Messrs K. Murchison and W. W. Mulholland, two members of the executive who had recently each lost a son, were passed at yesterday's meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union. Messrs T. C. McDonald (Dunedin) are at the United Service Hotel. Mr Frank G. .Marriner, represents tive of Messrs Collier and Sons, Ltd., Manchester, intends leaving by the e-6. Maungaaui on Friday next for Aiistralia for a holiday. - He will visit New Soutln Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. Mrs H. F. Herbert, Messrs W. E. Jjeadley and H. H. Holland weTe appointed at yesterday's meeting to represent the North Canterbury Hospital Board at the Hospital Boards' Conference, to bo held shortly at Dunedin. Mr H. J. O.tley, chairman, is an ex officio delegate to the conference. The Finajioe Committee of the North, Canterbury Hospital Board has appointed J. Otley, H. H. Holland, W. E. lieadley, and W. P. Spencer to represent the Board at the conference between delegates from the Hospital Board, Acclimatisation Society, and Dominion Board regarding tho question of the Nurses' Home site.
