TOO MUCH TRAFFIC
ON SANATORIUM ROAD. At the last meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board, a discussion took place concerning the enormous volume of motor traffic running up and down the Sanatorium Hill at night. It was stated that' visitors to the Sanatorium on Sundays left their cars along the road and endangered pedestrians. It was reported at yesterday's meet ing of the Board that the question of closing the 'gates on the road to the tuberculosis institutions had been given very full consideration. It was now proposed that a notice should be erected stating that it was u private road, and that trespassers would be prosecuted; and a further notice stating that motorcars must not be parked on the, Sanatorium road. The committee dealing with .the matter desires to give the notices three months' trial, to see if there is any improvement on present conditions. It is further proposed to write to the Heathcote County Council, asking that a parking place should be provided on the public road at the foot of the hill.
