CHILDREN'S DANCE. A children's plain and fancy dress dance was held in the Balcairn school, in aid of the funds of the Scripture class. There was a good attendance of children and adults, and a-very enjoyable evening was spent. The. room was prettily decorated with Hags and flowers. Mrs Hobbs trained the children for their dances.. One of the main features of the evening was a Christmas tree, which was covered with toys and balloons. COMING-OF-AGE PARTY. A delightful party was held recently at the residence of Mr and Mrs Starkey, Styx, in honour of the coming-of-age of their daughter, Doris. Mrs Starkey, who received the guests, wore a tunic frock of navy blue silk marocain, and her daughter Grace, wore a pretty frock of peach crepe de chine. The guest of honour woro pale blue- crepe silk. Games, competitions, dancing, and musi cul items caused the evening to pass all too quickly. At supper-timo Mr "W. S.
