Fire in the residence of Mrs J. C. Smith, Burwood avenue, Eemuera, on Monday night, in the absence of the occupants, destroyed one room and its contents. Other rooms were badly damaged by smoke and water. Examination later shoved that burglars had been at work, and practically every room had been ransacked.
