GOVERNMENT SUPERANNUATION FUNDS.

TO -THB XDITOa OF "THE PMSS." Sir,—l have been been reading the let ter signad "Play Fair" which appeared in your issue last week, and I can fully endorse every word, to think that us poor workers have got to contribute so extensively to the superannuation fund, from taxation. I have now the Gazette in, front of me, and if the electors saw the big salaries paid they would bo alarmed and demand immediate reduction in all' Departments. This superannuation will fully cost the country £5,000,000 to put it on a, thoroughly sound footing for a number' of years. The workers are undoubtedly not prepared to .pay. this, and if the scheme ii nob self-support-ing, the sooner ' the Government is compelled to squash the [whole thing the better. " ' "; We, have now in this city men who are out on decent life superannuation ; they are not satisfied'with this, but are taking positions in the city. No wonder we have unemployed;— Yours', etc., • ■ "PLAY FAIR, No. 2." Christehurch, October 29th, 1925.
