I II I I I R.A.0.8. BalL The annual ball of tho Lyttelton Lodgo of tho Koyal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes was held in the -Excelsior Hall on Wednesday evening and proved mo3t successful. Among tho visitors were representatives of tho Grand Lodge of New Zealand, the Provincial Grand Lodge, Yc Petitor, Sydenham, liiccarton, and New Brighton Lodges, and several overseas brethren. Jilossts S. Porteous and G. Briggs were M.C.'s, and tho musio was provided 'by Mr A. Arneson's orchestra, extras being played by Misses VYillman and Colombus. During thr> evening songs were given by Miss C: Willman and Messrs W. O'Neill, i". Wheeler, G. Briggs, and H. Robinson. A lucky-spot waltz was won by Miss Colombus and Mr P. Hodgson. Tho arrangements for the ball were in the hands of Messrs P. J. Smith (chairman), S. Porteouß (secretary), j\. Ernest, 35. Hobbs, S. S. Spencer, J. l'olmie, and 2s. McCormick. Variety Fair. members of St. Joseph's Catholic Churoli will hold u, Variety l<air front 2.8Q to 10 pan, to-day, in aid ol the church funds. Harbour Light Theatre. A double feature programme, consisting of "Tho Green Goddess, featuring Goorgo Allies, und "The Saddle Hawk," starring: Hoot Gibson, will bo repeated) at tho Harbour Light Theatre to-night. To-morrow the First National apeoial production, "Enemies of Women," . a twolve-roel drama by Ibanez, tho author of "The Four Horsemen," and stwrinff Lionel Barrymoie <yid Alma Riubens, will be screened, together with a comedy, scenic, and gazette. Ladles' Swimming Club. Tile twentieth annual mooting of the Lyttelton Ladies' Syvimming Club was hold on Wednesday. Mrs Colin Cook prceidod ovor a, largo attendance. Tho report and balance-sheet, which showed the club to be in a very satisfactory position financially, were received. Mwj Cook referred to tho loss of the club captain, Miss E. H. Hofftnaan, who was to be married! shortly. On behalf of tho members Mrs Cook aakod Miss Hoffmann to accept a silver entree dish, suitably engraved. Buchanan, Clark, and Miss G. Neville. It W33 decided to continue holding the boach afternoons on Tuesdays throughout the season. A vote of thwis passed to Messrs C. Mazey and H. Banfield for tho assistance they had rendered tho club during tho past seasoii, and aleo to Mrs Colin Cook and Miss Cook, tho retiring president ajidi secretary, for their splendid Bcrviccs to tho club for so inaay years. Tho opening day was fixed for Saturday, November 28tb, tho arrangements for tho races to be left in the hands of tho captain and deputy-captain.
