THEFT OF BEER.
•—— I - TAIHAPE, October 2S. As the Magistrate's Court to-day, before Jc&Ufcs of 'the Peace, Harold Maurice, ■ aliae Horace Maurice, a srriN band, was charged with breaking into tie Main Trunk Brewer-.-aid stealing therefrom three jars containing gallons of beer. Evidence waa giver; that fio rcropiietor of th 6 brewery on Sunday morning discovered that the • premises hed been entered, a- board, having been forced off with a pick. Tho jars were,fwind to be missing. The cashbox had .been rifled,' stumps aid papers being strewn-about'the; floor. No rnonev had been left in the cash-box. The police, later found tho jars in tho Domain and arrested Maurice, who admitted having oatercd the- premises and stolen the beer b«cau«e» he had been drinking heavily and cci"ulu sot resist the craving. . Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
