N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS
The committee of the Christchurch Golf Club announces that the entries for the New Zealand Oi«n and Amateur Championships havo now been closed. The total for these two events numbers 105, including 24 professionals. , In order to allow of two complete rounds being played each day, those amateurs with a national handicap of 11 or more will "be excluded from the draw, leaving TO amateurs in the Open and the qualifying rounds for the.Anjn* teur Championship. ; :

Cyril Tolley, with, a score of 141, won the silver trophy at Gleneagles, beating the amateur record of both the King's and Queen's courses. B. Harris was second with 150. . Critics are of the opinion that the success will ensure Tolley's adherence to golf and abandonment of tennis.
