UNEMPLOYMENT.
POSITION EASIER.
No meeting of the General Committee of the Citizens' Unemployment Committee was held yesterday, owing to the holiday. Tlio general position is reported to he much easier.
■The men employed hy the committee are working on the southern river bank between Manchester street bridge and the Fitzgerald avenue bridge, and by. the time the work in hand is completed it is fully expected that it will make a good showing for the money expended. It is intended to put on some pien to clean up the river bank in the vicinity of the Bridge of Remembrance. Subscriptions received by the Unemployment Committee to date total £1036 3s Bd. of which the sum of £162 10s was received this week. To dato the weight-guessing competition conducted by Dixon Brothers has added £39 10s 6d to the funds.
