GRAND NATIONAL DAY. The most popular of the meetings at .Riccr.rtoii, the Grand National fixture, will be commenced to-day. The Canteibury Jcekey Club is remarkably fortunate in the matter of weather, and a repetition of yesterday's sunshine after the boisterous weather will alone attract a bijr attendance. But the racing, too, should be well worths witnessing.

Opinions on the Grand National Steeplechase field differ .widely, anil with the inclusion of fresh opposition to those who had a run over the country lust Saturday week, the contest will be as interesting as any of its predecessors. »Sir J'osebovry and Passin' Through will probably lie the prime fancies. The Winter Ctm will also be run to-day. This is a particularly open race. At present Warhaven is the only one mentioned as unlikely to start, and with a field of twentywell tried horses {joir.'g to the post the rao.9 '.should give rise to some soirifod speculation. Sim L'p, White Comet. Boadicea, and Kilfane are most ireely discussed at present, hut liberal support is certain to be forthcoming for r.ll the others.

HuciiiK will commence with the Hunters' Hurdle Race at 11.31 a.m., and tho usual frequent train' and tram services have been arranged to convey patrons to the course in ample time to se° the full programme.
