James Gilchrist, aged two, was severely scalded on the right arm and body at Dunedin on Friday iiight through pulling a utensil containing boiling water over himself. lie was taken to hospital.

The death occurred on Friday of Mr John Scott Myers, 66 years of age, who resided at Marshland. There was a gathering of membere of tho City Bible classes at tho Y.M.C.A. yesterday afternoon, when a short addross was given by Mr Edgar M. Robinson, World's Boys' Director for tho Y.M.C.A., with headquarters' at Geneva. Mr W. L. Thomas, a member of the Y.M.C.A. Board of Directors, presided over a largo attendance. Mr Eobinson Spoke on the lines of his address on Saturday night, dealing with tho work of training boys throughout the world, and giving examples of work douo in this direction. This morning at 10 o'clock there will be a combined gathering of the staffs of tho Y.W.C.A. and Y.M.C.A. to meet Mr Eobinson, and at 1 o'clock a luncheon will be given by tho Y.M.C.A. to the business men ; of : the City, at which Mr Eobinson will be present.. • Mr Eobinson, .who is'.preparing matter for presentation to the Youth of tho World Conference at Holsirigfors in August, 1926, will leave Christchurch for Dunedin to-morrow morning. Weird noises, utterly inexplicable to the inmates, had kept the people in two houses at Island Bay, Wellington, awake for several nights. It transpires that tho house, which was only recently erected, is built over an old-established breeding-spot for penguins, successive generations of which breed in the same site.
