JOHNSTON BEATS RICHARDS. (BEUTER'S TIMOBAJtS.) (Received August 9th, 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 8. At Forest Hills, Johnston defeated Richards 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-8, 9-7. The committee -which recently naiped . the Davis Cup team, Tilden, Richards, Johnston, and Williams, deferred the selection of -the singles champion, besides Tilden; pending the results of thisfgame.
