SIR ARTHUR PEARSON FUND.
CHRISTCHURCH ADVISORY COMMITTEE. i * - The Advisory Committee of the Sir Arthur Pearson Memorial Fund for the Blind was held in the-Municipal , Chambers yesterday afternoon. PreI sent—Messrs H. Holland (chairman), H. R. Smith and \Y. P. Woods (seu'reta'ry). A lengthy letter was received from Mr 1). G. Sullivan, M.P., giving the results of his enquiries into two cases. hi one case, Mr Sullivan stated, lie was making an application to the Government for a pension fcr tho person affected; in the other case, he lecoiumended that tho committee might bear tho cost of repairs to typewriter; also, that application should he made to the Tramway Board for free passes for blind persons, as those suffering from, this infliction had # to have someone t> accompany them., and it meant that when they used'tho trams they had to pay two fares. Mr Sullivan suggested' that a deputation lrom the committee should wait on the Tramway Board and urge that free passes he granted. It was decided to hear tho cost of tho repairs to theitypewriter, as recommended; and, in vteiv of the smallness of the attendance, to hold over tho suggestion regarding applying for free passes on the trams. Tho chairman read a report he had forwarded to the executive in Auck- 1 land dealing, with the cases that had come before the committee. In one, ease,, that of an elderly woman, the executive had been recommended to make a grant of about £lO to pay off
