"WRETCHED INTERNATIONALISM!"

NAVY LEAGUE ANNOYED.

At last night's meeting of the Canterbury (N.Z.) -branch of the Navy League the following letter was received from the secretary of the Wellington Navy League, Mr B. Darroch: "Do you know anything of these new geographies—'The Human Geographies,' published by George Phillips and Son, which have-arrived in New Zealand, and are being bought by quite a number of teachers? They, to my mind, propagate this wretched internationalism, and I think all the branches of the Navy League should make enquiries about them, becauso it seems to me that the Government and the Education Department should state-what books aro to be used, and what books aro to be prohibited." The secretary of the local branch reported that he'had secured three of the books, and he distributed them to members present. The Auckland branch also wrote enclosing the minutes of ameeting of the executive committee held on May 4th. At that meeting it was reported that in a new book just sent out by Phillips on the Foundation of. the British Empire, no mention was made of the British Navy. It was decided that immediate steps be taken-to draw tho attention of .the Minister of Education to this serious omission, for fear it might be introduced as a test-book in the schools. A sub-committee was set up last night to go into the matter and report at the next meeting".
