REX BEACH'S MASTERPIECE

"THE SPOILERS." Bex Beach's story of the Klondike gold rush, "Tho Spoilers," Las lost none of its glamour, none of its vividness and none of ita drama, in the yeais that havo passed sinoo it was written—and that havo passed since it was first put upon tho screen ten years ago by Colonel Selig. The new version, produced by tho Metro-Goldwyn Company, will bo screened next week at Everybody's Theatre, commencing at the matinee on Monday. The production is on a bigger and moro spectaculax scale than was tho original, •aa was to be expected, seeing, how rapid tho progress and technique of making pictures has been, and Ithe great rignt etaged between tho hero and- tho villain surpasses that of a decade ago. "Tho Spoilers" is a true picture of life in tho Klondike gold rush and tho attempt of certain unprincipled adventurers to jump the claims of the early miners. The picture is one of the best made in recent years, and there is no doubt that it will repeat the big success of its first screen presentation. Tho cast is certainly one of the most notable that haa ever been seen in any one photoplay. It reads like a. "Who's Who" of tho screen:—Milton.Sills, Barbara Bedford, Ann Q. Nilsson, Noah Beery, Robert Edeson, Mitchell Lewis, Wallace Mac Donald, Ford Sterling, Robert McKim, Sam • do Grasse, John Eilliott, Louis Fazenda, Ka-te Price, Hockliffe Fellowes, Gordon -Russell, Albert KKwscoe, Tom McG-uire and Jack Curtis. , It" isn't this superb cast and its skilful acting which make "The Spoilers" such thrilling entertainment. It's tho story. Rex Beach described at first-hand the feverish fight for gold in the Klondiko when tho •sands of the Yukon suddenly turned yellow. His account of bow the miner 3 were dospoiled of somo cf their richest properties by corrupt politicians is an historic event. Beach crammed his novel with conflict, romance and suspense, and this has been skilfully portrayed on the screen. The fight between Milton Sills, who is the Key Gler.nistor, and Noar Bcerjt, impersonating the villainous Alex McNamara, is without a doubt tie greatest screen fight over filmed. It is stated that it took five days to film this fight scene. Both mon are excellent fighters as well as excellent actors, and they really fought. Barbara, Bedford and Anna Q. (Nilsson share honours in feminine leads. It would be hard to improve upon the casting of the acting of this production. ~■■,!_ Intending patrons aro strongly advised by tho management to attend the day sessions whenever possible, or to book their seats for the evening sessions, as huge crowds are anticipated. The box plan i 6 now open at Tho Bristol and seats may be booked there or by telephoning number 4925.
