X « MID-CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIPS. Tiio Mid-Canterbury miniature rifle champions liips were conducted under tho auspices of tho Ashbuxton Miniature Rifle Club on tho tatter's Tango There were 31 entries 4n tho champion teams' match, opon to teams of five men, all members of tho sum© club; tho ■winners to lold the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Challenge Shield presented by the citizens of Ashburton for twelve months. Tho entries in the individual championship totalled about 170. The members of the first three teams in the former event each receive a silver cup, while the first prize in the latter ©vent is a silver cup and £6. There are also 19 other cash prizes, totalling £22. Tho ' winner of the # grand aggregate championship will bo .the possessor of tin c-ntiqu® fruit while the second prize iB a pair of military hairbrushes. Hay, (Sydenham) got SO in -the second shoot-off and takes third prize. L. Oakley (Ashburfon), L. Pratley (Willcrwby) and P.
