The annual King's birthday golf tournament una<er the auspices of the Timaru Goli Club, was held at the Highfield links to-day in splendid golfing weather, 'ihc gxeena and lairways were in excellent order, and the course generally was in batter condition than at any previous tournament. Tha competitions attracted 84 entries, including 31 from -foreign clubs. Chriatchurch, North Otago, Waimate, Temuka and Pleasant Point were well, represented. B. V..Wright, the youthful Timaru ; player, again won the. South Canterbury championship in tty excellent rounds of 79 each. E. 'Wright (Mayfield) was- runner-up with an aggregate of 161. H. W. Macfarlane (Christchurch) gained third place with 162, but M. Mcßeth, the other Christchurch crack, went to pieces in the second- round and came in with an aggregate of 174.
