For the past few years the signature of Sir Ei-nest Harvey bat) becomo familiar to all in England who have been fortunate enough to possess a banknote, for as chifef cashier of the Bank of England a reproduction of "E. M. Harvey" appeared on every one—as a proof of its genuineness. Now Sir Ernest has received promotion, and has become Comptroller in Threadneedlo street, and a new name will appear on our banknotes. His successor is Sir C- P- Mahon, who has been deputy cashier for the past two years, and whose signature will soon be as- wellknown as that of Sir Ernest, and his predecessor, Sir John Gordon Nairae. .
