ISLANDS SERVICE. The Tofua. leaves Auckland on lor Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa, in plaoe of tihe Kavua. '. She is expected to loave Rarotonga on her return trip about June. 1 6th for Wellington direct, thence Auckland. . The Kurow was expected to leave Suva on Saturday for Auckland direct. TRANS-PACIFIC STEAMERS, The Hauraki left Sydney on May 23rd. for Fanning Island and Vancouver. She loads at Vancouver and San Francisco late in June and early in July for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne. Adelaide, and Sydney. The Waiotapu, from Vancouver and' San Francisco, is due at Auckland on June 11th, and . afterwards proceeds 7- to Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. .. The Wairuna left Auckland on Friday evening for Wellington, and after discharging portion : of her cargo from Pacific Coast there, she proceeds to Melbourne and Sydney.' The Waihemo, after discharging Vancouver and San Francisco cargo at Napier, was to leave there yesterday for Lyttelton, I>unedin, and New Plymouth; The Willaston (chartered steamer), which left Westport on May 19th for Vancouver direct, is due • thers on June 15th. HEBBURN IN PORT

The C. and D. {Line's chartered steamer Hebburn arrived yesterday morning from "Wellington, to discharge a quantity of her New York cargo. The Hebburn, which is on her maiden voyage, was built by the Blyth Shipbuilding and Dry Docks Company, Ltd.., to the order of Messrs Huddart, Parker, Ltd., Melbourne, aad was launched on March 11th this year. The vessel is of the single-deck type, with poop, bridge, and forecastle, and has been designed to carry about 6500 tons. Her overall leng'.h is 383 ft 6in, and she was constructed under special survey to Lloyd's 100 A 1 class, also in compliance ' with the previsions [of the Australinn Commonwealth.A'avigation Act. She is fitted with triple' expansion engines, having cylinders 24in, ; '39tn, and 65in in. diameter," by 'loin stroke. The mean speed obtained when running over tie measured mile was Hi knots.
