In contradistinctioDi to the position a few years, ago, slides illustrating : New Zealand, which are lent out by the High 'Commissioner's Department, / do justice to the Dominion. Those which served so badly for so many years have been broken and consigned to the dust-bin, and not even the most fastidious can take exception to those 'whicli have been''coming over,from New Zealand during the past year or so. • •• > Letters of continue to be received by the Publicity Department, which indicate that lecturers throughout the country, are thoroughly gratified with they have borrowed, and their audiences have .been delighted with the pictures. A few days ago a film showing the wool industry in New Zealand was ex- . hibited at the Mercers' School, Holborn, London, before .600 boys, who quite obviously -were much interested in it. In pursuance of a similar policy arrangements have been made to show further films illustrating the industries of New Zealand. Applications continue to come,from school-childreH 'all over the country for booklets dealing with the Dominion. An invitation for children to make such application was originally pub- 1 lished in the Bulletin of Empire Study. Since then there has been a steady stream of ..requests, and ait average of 50, packets of literature go out from the High Commissioner's Office every day. • Each packet consist. of the booklet, "New Zealand, 1934," a booklet dealing with one of tbe principal towns, a printed address by the High Commissioner some months ago, and an autographed letter from the High Commissioner. A copy of' any other pamphlet of which there is a surplus is also included in the packet, ' That the children take a great interest in the literature is seen from the letters that are sent to the Publicity Department, One or two children in,"a certain school or district mar- apply for tbe literature, and within a week there hundreds from the same locality making application, A few weeks ago a full . page of •■facts and figures relating to the Do- ,

minion, and some interesting prints appeared in the Emnire Supplement of "The Times." '■ The same useful and up-to-date summary appears this week in the Banking Supplement, of tha "Financial Times." It has pride of place on the back page of the excellent issue. Publicity Department has had printed a big supply of these pages as a separate leaflet, and ttiese are being sent to all parta .of the world. Three hundred shipping agents' throughout Great Britain have received fifty each for 'distribution. Packages have been sent to Dominion agents and Trade Commissioners in Canada, the United States, and Australia, while Chambers of Commerce and ._ other public bodies ■ and shipuing'companies; in Great Britain, the "United States and the Dominions are also receiving a quantity.
