LOCAL AND GENERAL. Local Elections. Yesterday's local election results are on page 8. Addington Market. There was a good demand yesterday for store and fat sheep and fat lambs, but another heavy entry of fat cattle met with a slacker sale. Letters to the Editor. The Budget delivered by Mr Churchill announces a reduction in the income-tax and a return to the gold standard. Industrial Depression. It is alleged that industry in England is being strangled by foreign competition and the Government dole. Hindenburg's Election. European comment on Hindenburg's election displays fear of a return of German aggression. South Africa. General Ilcrtzog says that so far as secession of South Africa is concerned it would be a flagrant mistake.
