Thcro nas a largo and enthusiastic attendance at Eiffelton last night to consider the formation of r. branch of the- Farmers' Union in the district. 'Die president of tljo Mid-Canterbury Union (Mr J. Brown) presided .*;nd gavo a brief outline of the fucctbns of the Union and the part that had been taken by Union members at tho recent louference in Wellington to Qiscusi? tlie wheat question.
Mr Bailey Wiihell, of tho Ealing branch, also detailed a numl>er of the advantages gained bv farmers in joining tho Farmers' Union. Jt was decided to form a branch, and the following committee was sot up: Messrs H. "Watta (chairman), J. T. McQuilkcn, S. P. Taylor, P. Sheehan, F. Crossan, F. P. Cookson. Mr H. Watts was appointed the delegate, ar.d the appointment of a secretary was held over. It was resolved to hold tho next meeting at Flemington.
